What is your style of photography for weddings?

In wedding photography today, I feel the word “candid” has been overused and sometimes, wrongly so. To answer this question I would say I have a real, evocative photojournalistic approach to shooting a wedding. My work is a fusion of fine-art, contemporary & minimalistic imagery. I like to be non-intrusive and photograph a wedding exactly as it unfolds. Keeping it real and capturing true emotion not only makes each image as beautiful as possible but also creates the best memories. However, I also feel that wedding photography is not just about these moments but also about creating timeless images and that is why there will also be moments where I may direct or alter the setting a little to get the optimal result out of a particular image I have visualised.

My primary focus in usually on the bride & the groom (and immediate families) and I tend to be your shadow through everything. Therefore, how comfortable you are with me definitely comes through in the images; and that is an element that simply can’t be created in any environment unless it’s actually there. Which is why I like to build a relationship with you beforehand, so that you are as comfortable as having another friend by your side all through your Big Day!

What are your charges and what wedding packages do you offer?

Each wedding I have come across has been unique in itself and for this very reason, I don’t offer any fixed packages for weddings and all packages are custom built to suit each client. The cost is typically based on how many days you need me for, how many events during those days and the services and/or deliverables you are looking for.

Based on all of the above, and after a conversation with you to understand your requirement in detail, I arrive on an estimate for my services.

So please feel free to drop in a message or call me and we can take it from there.

Where are you based out of? Do you travel?

I am currently based out of Bangalore and Delhi.

I absolutely love to travel and have covered wedding assignments all over the country from the north to the south and east to west and even internationally.

Do you charge extra for outstation events?

Our charges for events stay the same and do not change one bit; whether it is anywhere in India or even abroad.

However, we do expect our clients to understand that in such cases the travel and accommodation for our team will be included in the package we create for them. This is typically a non-issue and we book for whatever is most reasonable fare during the required dates. As for the accommodation, we  prefer to stay as a guest of the family and/or close by for easy manoeuvring during the events.

How many people will you have as part of your team?

I have 5 people on my team spread out over Bangalore, Delhi & Pune (including myself).

How many people come to cover your wedding will depend on your requirement and the size and scale of your wedding; which we mutually decide with you when we are estimating the wedding package. We have a team of  awesome individuals for all kinds of additional services as well; from wedding videos to remote-controlled drones as well as photo-booth operators.

We avoid bringing in a huge crowd of photographers as that beats the very purpose of being non-intrusive. In my experience, for a normal mid-size wedding two senior photographers are more than enough to cover the entire event. For very large scale events, we may bring 3 photographers to manage time and crowd efficiently as well.

What all will your wedding package normally include?

What you get out of our services and what you will be paying for:

  •  Artistic photography services of two (or more) professionals
  •  Rigorous selection and editing process for each of your images
  •  Professionally edited hi-resolution images on a DVD or pendrive (in .jpg format)
  •  A secure password-protected online gallery for each event from your wedding with unique links. This can also be used on your mobiles with one app download. Easy to share with friends & family.

Additional deliverable based on your selection can include the following:

  •  Pre/post wedding couple shoot
  •  Custom designed unique photo books
  •  Photo magnets
  •  Hi quality poster prints of selected images
  •  Custom designed phone cases with selected images from your wedding

*The only thing NOT included in any of our packages are posed images on a stage during reception or images during dinner/lunch. We don’t believe that it is appropriate to take pictures while your guests are having a meal, and from personal experience, these are not images you would like to see in your wedding album 20 years from now either.

How many images will I get?

Unlike most other wedding photographers, I put no limit on the number of images delivered and it really depends on the events and how it all unfolds.

I feel that this is a big life event for you and the more memories you have, the better.

I personally go through a long and rigorous review & selection process of the entire wedding images (where only the completely unusable images or repeated images are removed), and make sure that most of your memories come straight back to you, where they belong, in a way that you relive each moment or even find some that you missed on the big day itself!

How long will it take for you to deliver our wedding photos?

I personally take over the entire process of reviewing, selecting and editing the images for you, and this is something that takes a lot of time and involvement. The images and the editing process together is what creates those gorgeous images for you. And while I know they are very eager to see the images, I urge my clients to be a little patient while they are waiting as I put a lot of care into my editing process and truly believe this is the other half of a wedding shoot. I also tend to have a very hectic schedule, with all the travelling for various shoots and that eats away on my time as well.

Delivery of the final set developed images takes a minimum of 6-8 weeks after your wedding dates. Once I have received the images chosen by the client for the album (if any), that takes another 2-3 weeks to reach your doorstep.

How does one book you or block your dates?

A 50% deposit of the entire amount decided upon and a signed copy of the contract will help you secure and block your wedding dates in my calendar.

We also follow a ‘first come, first serve’ policy and do not confirm bookings only on verbal confirmations. This is required because once we block our dates for you, we turn away other prospective work and clients for those same dates and hence in certain cases if there has been only verbal commitment, there is little or no clarity between both parties and can cause misunderstandings. For the same reason, the advance amount is non-refundable.

The remaining amount can be cleared on completion of events or BEFORE the final delivery of the images/videos/photobooks.

Can we have the original RAW images included in the pacakge?

Im sorry, we do not hand over RAW images.

This has a common query by clients to their wedding photographer. In fact, the internet is full of blog posts about this. Here is something I read by another photographer which explains our perspective best: “Asking a photographer to hand over a memory card, USB, or DVD of raw images is akin to asking an author to present you with their book in manuscript format: unedited, unformatted, and including the paragraphs and chapters that didn’t make it.”

You are hiring me not only to provide a product– the finished image– but a process as well. Without the process there actually is no finished image. It is here that I would ask you to understand that part of that process means editing out the bad frames, and processing the rest in a way that only a professional photographer can. Just like paintings and sculptures may follow an artist’s initial sketches, it is entirely possible that I took eight or nine shots (sometimes more) before knowing that I got what I wanted. And I would not be comfortable with this very process that goes on in my mind to be handed over without the finishing touches.

Another technical aspect I would like you to know is that the RAW files that come straight out of the camera are basically a digital negative and you are going to need expensive software and technical expertise to turn it into something usable. Even the sheer size of one RAW image is close to 5-6 times the size of a large JPEG and most basic photo viewers do not even recognise these formats.

I would like to assure you that we will carefully comb through all of the photographs and just as carefully choose only the very best to be edited and presented to you. Trust that we will create these for you from the very best shots of your event and we are just as interested as you are in having those photos be beautiful and memorable, while also highlighting our talent and hard work.

Who owns the copyright to these images?

As the photographer, I will own the full copyright to the images, and will reserve the rights to use these images on my website and/or my social media handles. We may even use some of the gorgeous images we create at your wedding for displays, publications and/or other promotional work!

If you wouldn’t want your pictures on social media that is perfectly fine. These are your memories and definitely your choice on how you would want to share them and who with. However, any images shot by me that go up on my websites/online media is what helps attract more clients and is the only way for me to showcase my work/art. In the event that you don’t want the images to be reproduced on any social media, it is important that you mention this at the onset so that we can adjust our package accordingly; which then goes towards our marketing budget.

If you would like to know more, have a question for me or just want to say hi, please feel free to contact me.
